Yesterday, the Virginia Research Investment Committee and Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe approved and announced a grant for $1.18M to Virginia Tech and DeepSig Inc, in conjunction with $2.36M in matched investment from private funding and Virginia Tech.

"These grants demonstrate how we can strengthen the new Virginia economy by bringing together innovative campus research and creative business ideas. I am proud that we can support this important work at our higher education institutions and further build upon Virginia’s reputation as national leader in research and cutting-edge technology," said the Governor in a press release.

The funding will be used to advance DeepSig's research in the detection of wireless cyber-security threats and anomalies for critical infrastructure, government, and private industry. This work will be executed at Virginia Tech under the leadership of DeepSig CTO Dr. Tim O'Shea, creating a pipeline directly from Virginia Tech's academic research setting into DeepSig's commercial product line. Through the program, DeepSig will also coordinate and engage with Virginia Tech students, faculty, and the larger community, demonstrating how close partnerships between universities and industry catalyzes economic growth and technology break-throughs.
